Matt earned his BSE (09), MSE (10), and PhD (16) in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics with minors and concentrations in Computer Science Engineering and Robotics from The University of Pennsylvania. Always drawn to machines that move, Matt earned his pilot’s license, was the electrical lead of the school’s Formula SAE race car team, and performed research in a modular robotics lab as an undergraduate. He continued his work under the guidance of Mark Yim in the modular robotics lab, named ModLab, for his master’s and doctoral degrees. It was during this time that Matt began work on the motor controllers that laid the foundation for IQ, as well as created the world’s smallest self-powered flying vehicle, named Piccolissimo.
